History:

June 12, 1898 was a declaration of Philippine independence from Spain for about 333 years.

But the Spanish government later ceded the Philippine archipelago to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris. Then the Philippine–American War took in place.

On July 4, 1946 Philippines was officially have its independence from the United States for about 48 years.

The United States of America granted independence to the Philippines on July 4, 1946. In accordance with the Philippine Independence Act (more popularly known as the “Tydings–McDuffie Act”).

So why June 12 not July 4?

On May 12, 1962, President Diosdado Macapagal issued Presidential Proclamation No. 28, which declared June 12 a special public holiday throughout the Philippines. 🧐🤨

So for me – Happy 76th Independence Day Pilipinas (totally) this coming July 4th!! 😁❤️🇵🇭
