What is Lent?

Opinion for Christian faith in this Lenten Season 😉 (this 2018: 14th of February to 31st of March and on 1st of April is the Resurrection Sunday)

What I love is what Christ overall teachings or message to the world. This HE said “to LOVE one another even thy enemy”. (Read on Matthew 5:43-48). HE didn’t taught the world how to hate. All HIS parable, words and stories mentioned in the Bible are most or rather all in positivity & humility. ♥

It is a solemn observance of Christian believers that starts from Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday.

First, during lent – believer should do more (but now will depends on the person) in praying, penance, repentance of sin, self-denial, mortification of flesh and alms-giving. Christians who celebrate the Lenten season are: Anglican, Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Lutheran, Methodist and some others.

Second, some will do fasting (dry or water fasting) or only abstinence from all meat and/or others like bad habits as well. It is to commemorate the 40 days fasting of Christ in the desert (literally without eating for 40 days) and gone to some temptations. (Read on Matthew 4:2-10).

Mystery! The Life that Christ portrayed in the Bible is referring to mankind spiritual and humanly nature. As what it was written “Man is created by the likeness of GOD”. Christ’s character is an example that man must follow.

As humans, we all know that we have few behaviors like that of an animal. Some said that we are an animals and believe about the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin. Partly true, of course we have some behaviors of an animals because we are all the same – as a living creatures. Yeah, humans are the highest and most intelligent form of living creatures created in this universe.

To that man have the great opportunities and blessings in this world. We can choose what we like and we can make things we want. We have the power to do the things we love, if we want to – without fear. Man has everything – or man is perfect! Not until we had sin, we loose our perfection because of our sin. That worldly sin – separated us from the divine. Man’s divine nature comes from his spirit, his soul, his choices to do good. Perfection (as what mentioned in Matthew 5:48) is the power of our divine nature over our worldly nature. 😉

For these mysteries, let our conclusions lead by our intuitions and discernment. This is just my ideas comes to mind while writing this blog post. GOD bless! 🙂

BIBLE VERSES (references):

Matthew 5:43-48 (KJV)

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 4:2-10 (KJV)

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Genesis 1:27 (KJV)

“27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
